About Action Swift Current The city of Swift Current lies at the heart of Southwest Saskatchewan. With our low cost of living and high quality of life, the community of Swift Current is an ideal location to live, work and do business. With more small businesses per capita than any other city in Canada, Swift Current presents an ideal business climate in which to establish a small or medium sized venture. We at Action Swift Current make it our mission to represent the interests of business people in the city and RM of Swift Current. To this end, Action Swift Current works to implement the Business Retention and Expansion (BR&E) program in the community. BR&E is an economic development philosophy that emphasizes nurturing established businesses as a means to furthering the interests of the larger community. Action Swift Current is a registered, not-for profit organization that's all about encouraging the business community to position itself in the role of community and economic development leaders. Action Swift Current encourages the role of the private sector to make things happen on the economic front. That is, for the business sector to become the catalyst for growth and lead in economic development by example. We need more people doing the right things, working together and ultimately leading to business retention and expansion. Action Swift Current is an organization committed to helping Swift Current help itself develop and become a centre of growth and innovation that attracts people and industry. Action Swift Current is working towards a prosperous future for Swift Current and area. However, as the old maxim goes: Rome wasn't built in a day. Indeed, to secure the prosperity of our community will require effort on the part of everyone - business people, citizens, government and community organizations alike. Action Swift Current is committed to facilitating the work of these stakeholders and leading the way towards a prosperous future for Swift Current and Southwest Saskatchewan! More Action Swift Current Team Charter What We Believe: Action Swift Current believes that the community of Swift Current can be a prosperous, thriving economy which retains, expands and attracts businesses. One which creates high paying jobs, produces value-added products and services, and serves customers throughout the world. We believe that diversification and growth can be achieved if a stable and reliable economic climate exists here in our community. As a result, we feel that the community of Swift Current must adopt a pro-business attitude - we must convince ourselves and the rest of the world that Swift Current is a terrific place to achieve prosperity. What We've Done: Action Swift Current has been established to set up and deliver the Business Retention and Expansion program (BR&E) in the City and RM of Swift Current. Our focus is on building a climate conducive to growing the size of the private sector, creating a competitive economy and ultimately a larger community population base. We want to engage participation from the community, key business leaders and the public sector to build consensus and take action on what is needed for business retention and expansion in our community. Action Swift Current began implementing the BR&E program by visiting local businesses to gather information on their operations and views of the community. It was important to determine what types of challenges the business community faced that Action Swift Current could address immediately, and into the future. Based on the results of the firm visitation process, Action Swift Current has selected ten issues that seemed of particularly concern to Swift Current's business community. Since that time, many projects have been completed, are ongoing, or are in the planning stages by community members, clubs, organizations, businesses, associations and government.
